Roland Organ Festival

170316_Roland1269The final event of the ensemble division in the Roland Organ Music Festival 2016 was held at Hikifune Art Center in Sumida Ward, Tokyo on February 18, 2017. This ensemble division features the performance of a piece of music by groups of two or more musicians playing synthesizers and V-Drums, etc.


Ensemble division A was for elementary school and under, division B for high school and under, and division C had no age limit. A total of 20 groups with 91 players gathered.


170316_Roland1398A variety of music equipment made by Roland, such as the AT-350C atelier combo, Juno-DS61 synthesizer, RD-300NX digital piano, V-Drums, and TD-30KV-S, were on the stage. In particular, performance centered on the Lucina synthesizer, which can be worn with a strap across the shoulder, the ELCajon EC-10 electric cajon, and the handsonic HPD-20 percussion pad, affordably the performers a variety of tone and performance style.


Awards selected by a panel of judges included a Judges’ Special Award, Ensemble Award, and Best Ensemble Award. A-muse, was the Best Ensemble winner in the C division, played an original technical fusion number and looked happy upon winning.


Roland is planning to start a new, four-stage “Roland Festival” next year, with an organ stage, a performance stage, a V-Drum stage, and an ensemble stage.
