Isao Tomita (1932 – 2016)

冨田Isao Tomita, a composer and a pioneer of synthesizer music, passed away by chronic heart failure on May 8, 2016. He was 84 years old. He is highly acclaimed for his innovative album, “Clair de Lune”, which won top classical chart of Billboard in 1974, and nominated to Grammy Awards in 4 categories. His music exerted a strong influence on the Techno music typically known with Yellow Magic Orchestra. Tomita also wrote signature tunes for a host of Japanese movies and TV programs.
