Ikutaro Kakehashi Memorial Ceremony in Hamamatsu

ATV Corporation, Kakehashi family and Kakehashi Foundation staged Ikutaro Kakehashi Memorial Ceremony in Hamamatsu on June 11 (Sun.) Kakehashi, founder of Roland Corporation and chairman of ATV Corporation passed away on April 1  by heart failure at the age of 87.

He was one of the greatest industry leaders with deep insights in music and its future, a father of digital music technology, and loved by broad walks of people who knew him in the music products industry for his distinguished humor, cheerful and warm personality.

Nearly 850 people took part in the ceremony both from Japan and overseas in memory of Kakehashi’s uncomparable contribution to music society and the industry, and outstanding leadership as a businessman.

The presenters of Tamagushi, ritual branch included Makoto Muroi, president of ATV Corporation, Ikuo Kakehashi, son, Akiko Santo, president of Kakehashi Foundation, Masako Kakehashi, widow, Heita Kawakatsu, mayor of Shizuoka Pref., Osamu Suzuki, chairman of Suzuki Motor Corporation, Takuya Nakata, president of Japan Musical Instruments Association, Shiro Murai, chairman of SIIX Corporation, Katsuhisa Hattori, composer & arranger, Norio Maeda, jazz pianist, composer & arranger, Katsuyoshi Dan, retired president of Roland Corporation, Don Lewis, organist and Tommy Snyder, drummer.
The memorial speech by Makoto Muroi was followed by a movie presentation conveying Kakehashi’s remarkable history of life and business. Yuri Tachib

It was a heartfelt moment praising and remembering overwhelming talents of the two giants in music and musical instruments societies.

A long queue of mourners offered flower where hundreds of photos of Kakehashi and his industry friends decorated a wall of the ceremony hall from floor to ceiling.
