Toshio Kashio Invention Museum in Tokyo

Casio added one each special exhibits of “Time” and “Sound” at Toshio Kashio Invention Museum in Setagaya, Tokyo. Launched in May, 2012, renovating private home of Toshio Kashio, former chairman of Casio Computer Co., Ltd. who passed away in May 2012, the museum accommodates products he developed during his tenure at Casio.

Time section has displayed Casio 14-A, the world’s first compact electric calculator, and Casio Mini, the world’s first commercial model calculator since June, 2013.

The latest additions are Casiotron, the world’s first wrist watch equipped with automatically run calendar he developed in 1974, Casiotone 201 electronic keyboard, SK-1 sampling keyboard introduced in 1980 and 1986, respectively, and a series of digital guitars and digital wind instruments.

They come with explanations of development background that he designed the wristwatches based on technologies of electric calculator, and easy-to-play digital musical instruments as he always enjoyed listening to music but could not play any musical instrument himself.

The museum is open in free admission, with online preregistration ( throughout year except Saturdays, Sundays, national holidays, regulated days in summer, and days at the end and beginning of year.
