JMIA’s First Ever Annual Music Retail Market Survey Now Available

Japan Musical Instruments Association (JMIA) just completed 2016 Japan Music Products Retail Market Survey, which is the first attempt by the organization to grasp recent market trend of individual segments and challenges the industry is facing.

JMIA had long compiled statistics of Japanese Production and Sales of Musical Instruments, the only reliable source for production and sales data with help of nearly 50 instruments manufacturers in Japan.

The first retail market survey is expected to outline changes of the business environment, consumer taste and trend. A total of 70 music retailers throughout Japan participated in this survey. As the products segments are largely linked to the US Retail Music Market Survey, a part of NAMM Global Report with the data provided by US Music Trades magazine, it will help the industry define present conditions of the market and get seeds for future business.

The survey report and commentary will appear in upcoming April issue of Japan Music Trades.
